So much has happened since my last posting: tornadoes, multiple computer crashes, a festival, markets and a life changing decision. More to come when I have time and my ducks in a row.
My approach to pottery is one of simplicity and function. I want each piece to be used and loved.
I use stoneware clay fired to a midrange cone 5. All my glazes are food, microwave and dishwasher safe. Always think about the temperature when using stoneware. Thermal shocks can cause cracking or shattering. Allow a piece to come to room temperature before placing in a microwave or oven. When cooking in an oven, place the piece inside before preheating. Allow it to come to temperature with the oven. I do not suggest heating a piece any higher than 390 degrees.
